Matter Makes Abstraction

The music video for ‘Matter Makes Abstraction’ was made by re editing a series of AI-generated text-to-video sequences, none of which were ever generated beyond the paywall.

The primary platform for this experiment was Runway, which offers new users a free, 120 seconds of 720p text-to-video prompts as a taster for this new tech.

The 120 seconds is broken into 4-second portions, so 2 separate accounts were made in order to gain enough ‘free’ footage to make the video.

It felt like a great way to explore a new medium, and the low grade AI generations from the free accounts are flawed in an interesting way – seeming to suit the notion of matter abstracting.
